The Minister of Communications and Information Technology visits TAWAL sites in the Mecca and reviews their role in enhancing the technical infrastructure

His Excellency, Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, the Minister of Communications, and Information Technology, visited the sites of TAWAL, Saudi Arabia’s leading integrated IT infrastructure provider, in Mecca. He reviewed the company's efforts in enhancing the technical infrastructure and its role in providing high-quality communication services to service providers for pilgrims in the holy sites during the Hajj season of 1445 AH.

The Minister's visit comes as part of the government's efforts to assess the readiness of the participating entities for the Hajj season, in line with the country’s strategy aimed at ensuring the security, safety, and complete comfort of the pilgrims. He reviewed TAWAL’s readiness and preparatory measures for the Hajj season of 1445 AH, focusing on providing services to telecommunications and information technology network operators according to the highest quality standards. TAWAL is committed to offering the best integrated services to its clients, including government entities, telecommunications, and information technology companies, in cooperation with the concerned authorities and Hajj committees.

The company has expanded to its technical capabilities in the holy sites as part of its operational plan to serve pilgrims and prepared 100 qualified employees to provide technical support services during the year’s Hajj.

TAWAL has also established 18 new sites for communications and information technology services to cover new areas. The company has also implemented 1,675 upgrade/collocation activities done on 1,366 sites to cater with the customer demand to accommodate the increased 5G usage.

Logistically, TAWAL provided field operations teams with motorcycles and electric scooters. This step will help them move quickly, provide greater smoothness of movement in the holy sites, reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment. TAWAL also cooperated with Hajj committees to facilitate the movement process for its field teams on monitoring and issuing reports as well as proactive plans in preparation for emergency situations.
